"Perhaps" (wordle poem)

~ Perhaps ~

She knows the secret now,
The marrow of existence.
Perhaps beyond the grief,
The doom of massive strokes
And broken hips,
Amidst the soothing stillness
Of swirling colors
She floats permeable,
Perpetual worry gone,
And does not miss
Her window painted white,
The clatter in the kitchen
Or that tiny
Emerging flower -
A shard of purple sky.
Perhaps.
Or maybe she’s the one
Who guides my hand
As I kneel before the crocuses
To touch them for her.

The Happy Amateur

  1. I love the tenderness of the last four lines. The lead up had me nodding in agreement, 'perhaps,' but then those last lines... so much contained in them.

    1. Thank you, Margo. I enjoyed the words, liked where they led me. Wasn't sure about the last four lines, because they break the rhythm a little, but decided to keep them the way they're after all. Glad I did.

  3. This poem aches with a touching vulnerability brought to such a lovely resolution with the last four lines, "perhaps" indeed ... very nicely wordled words.

  4. YES! Sasha, this is one of my favorites of all I've read. You weave a beautiful tapestry with this thread of words. I draw it up under my chin and find comfort there. Thank you!

  5. I love "a shard of purple sky." And yes, the last four lines close the piece with poignancy. Worthy of that different rhythm. :)

  7. Sharon, Walt, Brenda,
I'm very grateful for your comments. I had a feeling that this poem really "happened." I'm happy it struck a chord with you.

Hen, thank you for your concern, we're well (knock on wood!)I was thinking about my grandmother as I wrote this, she passed away almost twelve years ago.

    1. Thank you, Mark. The older I get, the more I believe. I wrote this poem very quickly, as soon as I saw the words I saw the poem. I was thinking about my grandmother. But this morning we learned about the passing of a very close relative. And I really do feel that something or someone was guiding my hand as I wrote. Letting me know what's going to happen.
I hope she's happy. God Bless her.
