"We don't know..."

“We don’t know what to do with all the lawn we have. We use lawn as wall-to-wall carpeting, and I think it works better in most yards as an area rug.”
-- Thomas Rainer, landscape architect

atypical front yard -- doesn't it look great?

  1. I think that laws like the one show in the photo are really beautiful. One needs the time, energy and knowledge to create that kind of a masterpiece. I know some folks who live in the city - the whole postage stamp of a back yard is a productive garden. Hard to do if you want to travel in the growing season.

There is also a yard not to far that I can only admire...the back third is devoted to, well it is a devotional part of the yard of paths to various statue and water features for private meditation. Though there is no fence - being that it is in the back it isn't open to the public. A masterpiece of time and effort by its' creator(s).

    1. Once I got interested in gardening and started to pay attention to landscapes I noticed the abundance of lawns. There's so much of "wall-to-wall carpeting."

The gardens you describe, Jules, sound very interesting, unique.
