Another day of sunshine… Redbud leaves –
The ones remaining, fewer than the days
Left in this month – keep swaying in the breeze
And luring cardinals, “Oh, come and daze
This fall with fiery brushstrokes of delight,
Come, stay awhile until we all take flight
Before the freezing winter…come, excuse
Yourselves from dwelling on those things that are
Inevitable, brighten up and use
The palette of this day, don’t look too far
Ahead, beware, lest you should lose your sight,
Oh, daze this fall with brushstrokes of delight...”
