"Impossible" (poem)

“Impossible”

Staggering in the dusk
In search of destiny,
Bearing the burden of
Stifled songs, old sorrows,
Stumbling upon a road,
Vaguely familiar and
Irresistible like
Addiction - pace quickens,
Walking briskly, running,
Remembering it now:
Blood’s thicker than water,”
Someone calling you “mate…
Back, towards the beginning,
The story’s just starting,
Back to that summer day,
That small country cottage,
Where in the sunny patch
Of ripening marrows,
Buried under the leaves,
Your dreams lie unbroken.

Live for the Love of it,
The Happy Amateur

  2. Unbroken dreams, means there is still hope. Lovely use of the prompt.

  4. I see a return down that familiar road where our runners quickened heart beat is calmed by open arms in welcoming their return...
    Thank you.
