The Sunday Whirl:
~ Caught ~
Emerging
lights
Pale
dots at first
Take
shape, align
And
print across the sky
“OUT
FISHING”
Night
whistles softly
As
she baits her hook
She
casts her spinning rod
And
winks…and waits
You
don’t stand a chance
You’ll
swallow the moon
It’ll
vibrate in your chest
And
make your doubts ring clear
Amplified
by silence
In
contrast to serenity
Till
cobalt stars
Are
ground to dust
By
morning mills
Live for the Love of it,
The Happy Amateur
I like 'night whistles softly' and really like
ReplyDelete'Amplified by silence
In contrast to serenity'
Thank you Mark! It's my Super Moon tribute.
DeleteI love the opening lines setting the poem up and this image 'You’ll swallow the moon
ReplyDeleteIt’ll vibrate in your chest' is wonderful.
Thank you Margo :-)
DeleteI love the vibration in the chest...and I want to go fishing in the moonlight.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brenda!
DeleteI do like "Out Fishing" printed across the sky.
ReplyDeleteI thought it would be cool to actually see a sign like that :-) Thank you, Barbara!
DeleteAlexandra, I'm glad you've brought your muse out to play. I've been enjoying your emergence in the ways poetic, and this one doesn't disappoint either! Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteWalt, thank you very much, I value your opinion a lot. I'm happy :-)
DeleteThank you so much! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhile we are all poets, we are all so different. Somewhere I read of a place where in a lake or possibly the ocean where some underwater creatures glow green...imagine that at midnight on a full moon! We had clouds...I only caught a bit of the remaining moon last eve.
ReplyDeleteNice Wordle!
Your comments are always so poetic, thank you!
DeleteI have a complex relationship with the moon: I guess I'm a bit afraid of it, so I avoid looking at it for a long time, just a quick glance is enough for me!
'She casts her spinning rod
ReplyDeleteAnd winks…and waits' love the whole poem but that line made me stop and re-read! so much more than fishing in that...beautiful!
Thank you Janet, I'm so glad you liked it! :-)
DeleteI love this! And am doubly thrilled that it's a tribute to the super moon that I was lucky enough to see clearly last night ... there's something about Luna and fishing that just clicks, yes? Very nice ...

Sharon! Thank you! I've never gone fishing, but I felt like fishing in the moonlight in my poem :-)

ReplyDeleteI went fishing too, Happy! I love the coincidence! I really enjoy your wordle, so smooth the words fit perfectly...I SO enjoy this:
"Amplified by silence
In contrast to serenity
Till cobalt stars
Are ground to dust
By morning mills"
So creative!
Thank you Hannah!
DeleteI think the Moon was helping me this time :-)
I'll be over "to fish with you" soon!
