Life as a Garden: "The Little Gardener" by Emily Hughes

"No book is really worth reading at the age of ten which is not equally--and often far more--worth reading at the age of fifty and beyond."
-- C.S. Lewis

Some day--when I'm "fifty and beyond"--I hope to read this one to my grandchildren. For now I'll have it all to myself. I cannot tell you how much I love this picture book.

No big words here. But if you're feeling small and weary, if you think your voice is just too tiny to be heard, read about the little gardener and his garden.

Follow him down the grassy path of his simple story. Lots of big and wonderful things await you.

Turn the pages. You'll smile, and perhaps shed a tear, and your heart will grow a bit lighter.

Here's an interesting post Emily wrote when "The Little Gardener" was still "a little bookie in the works" as she called it.
