A Kindred Spirit: Writing Spider

I spy with my little eye...

a yellow garden spider, and its prey...

Check out that zigzag web!
No wonder one of the names for this spider species is writing spider.

  1. Oh! I've seen some of those spiders in my yard too.
Be careful as I think they can be poisonous.
I generally like spiders...as long as they earn their keep :)

I read their bite is like a bee sting.

    1. I'm VERY careful around spiders. I don't like them, but I respect them :)

This is the first time for yellow garden spiders in my yard, in fact I've never seen them before in my life.

They look dangerous, but apparently--I was relieved to find out--they're not considered venomous.

They CAN bite though, especially the females (that spin the zigzag web), if provoked or disturbed.

It might be a good year for yellow garden spiders, so keep your eye out for them, Jules. Don't get bitten!

The abundant mosquitoes have bitten me enough! :)
