"Caged" (a poem)

~ Caged ~

A

Brutal psychologist

Placed me once

Among

Those animal-like

People who cannot

Survive

Outside of

Their natural habitat.

For

Ten plus

Years now I’ve

Denied

Extinction, sustaining

Myself with memories,

Overcoming

Fear each

Time I venture

Out

The door

Of my cage.

Live for the Love of it,

The Happy Amateur
