November 2014 Poem-A-Day Chapbook Challenge: Day 1

We knew from the start
That the game wasn’t fair
Yet we played anyway
Pretending that childhood
Would always be there
Just a bike ride away

But where is it now?
It’s over
Over the fields of clover
Beyond the white cloud
Atop the green hill
It is there still

It lives in that place
Non-existent, abiding
Where it’s always July
Where cross the lush summers
Two bikers are riding
Just two kids: you and I

  2. Janet, thank you very much. I don't believe I've seen you at Poetic Asides..? I might have missed you, I haven't had a chance to read much yet. I'll go back and look for you. Hope you share your poetry there.

  3. Hi, I'm debating.I say this carefully but somehow it seems to cause war on the home-front when I pour too much time and energy into poetry. Our internet seldom works at night so that takes away my reading time. I would love to be there but am trying to keep the peace here. If I sit on the computer during the day I don't get everything done here that I should, I suppose. Then well...oh there are some things the heart can never tell/spell.

Really loving your poetry though. Keep it up!!

    1. I hope it all works out, Janet. Challenge or no challenge, your poetry is tops with me (and a whole lot of people, including your family, I'm sure), hang in there :-)
