"Fox" (poem)

I've just added another wild animal to the list of wildlife I've seen right outside my "city" home.

~ Fox ~

Saw a fox on my street today,
Walking steadily like a stray dog,
Out of place in a city, but keeping his cool,
As if he belonged. He wouldn’t trick me, though:
I know this lost look, this silent pleading, “How did I get here?”
I hope you do better than me, friend. I hope you’ll find your way home.

    1. Thank you, Irene.
The fox was probably fine, actually. He walked as if he owned the place. :-)

  2. Every human / animal strives to find HOME.. I hope the fox doesn't cause problems for neighborhood dogs.

    1. It doesn't happen every day, thank goodness. First time I saw one. Hope foxes won't get too comfortable around here...

  3. Last month, I visited my sister (outside Atlanta) to take care of my niece while she traveled abroad. Driving my niece's friend home after school, I spotted a fox walking along the way. My first ... I wonder if he was lost as well? It is a shame when wildlife gets displaced due to our encroaching their home space. Doesn't seems like a win-win situation!

    Nice share for the day.

  4. I think I'm going to write another post about that fox :-) The fox itself was not imaginary, but I might have imagined this 'being lost' thing. It was a happy healthy fox really!
    Thank you, Becca!

  5. I really have to clarify things a bit, I'll write another post today. The fox was OK!
Thank you for your concern, though, Mama Zen!

  6. Being on the outskirts of our town and near farm lands we see a bunch of critters. A few winters ago I happened to see a red fox crossing my snow filled yard by moon light.

  7. This must have been beautiful!
Mine came in broad daylight... I grew up in a big city, but within the last three years of living in the US I've got used to seeing 'wild things', although I have a city address, I'm not even surprised anymore :-) Hawks, owls, snakes, snapping turtles, opossums,coyotes...rabbits, squirrels and deer don't even count as wildlife...now - foxes!
